DESCRIPTION:It is once again time to dust off the overalls\, finish the maintenance that you have been working on\, and ready yourself for the first CMRC Club Day of the new season. Prepare for a great day competing at the BROOKLANDS CHALLENGE MEETING\, 31 August 2024 at Levels Raceway\, Timaru. Invited classes will include Classic Saloons Large and Small\, Pre-78 Classic Saloons\, Sports & GT’s\, Formula Libre\, Vintage & Historic (VCC) and the mighty CAMs bikers.  Testing will be available on Friday afternoon\, 30 August from 1:30 to 4:30 and is made complimentary by the CMRC.  A complimentary BBQ will be available starting at 6.00 pm outside the Club rooms for those CMRC members attending the AGM. The CMRC AGM will be held in the South Canterbury Club rooms\, Friday 30 August. at 7.00 pm.  Your attendance at the AGM would be appreciated so you can voice your comments on the organising of the Club\, and we are working towards having an updated version of the Club Rules for comment and/or approval. Now is the time to put forward any suggestions that we can implement to improve the performance of the Club.  Entries will be out end of July. SUMMARY:2024 Autumn Fling at Levels (cancelled)
DESCRIPTION:Sorry to have to report that while some classes had strong entries for the Autumn Fling\, others were put off by Autumn having to be delayed until Mid-Winter this year together with a dire weather forecast for the weekend.  That meant we had too few entrants in some classes to run a full race meeting and we have reluctantly decided it must be cancelled.  On the plus side\, that gives you another few weeks to make sure the car is ready for the Brooklands meeting at the end of August where strong fields have been promised. \nThose who have entered should email Paul.Coghill@gmail.com and advise him of your bank details and the amount you paid to enter in order to obtain a full refund.  See you at Brooklands.

SUMMARY:Southern Classic Meeting 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Southern Classic meeting will once again be organised and presented by the CMRC at Timaru’s Levels Raceway\, from the 9th to the 11th February 2024. This classic and historic motor race meeting is an annual invitation event for people who enjoy classic racing or simply watching classic cars in action. \nThe 2024 meeting will be the 19th Southern Classic hosted at Levels by CMRC and once again we are looking forward to some very exciting cars and racing over the three days. \nThis year features national and international Formula Juniors\, Formula Libre racing cars\, Vintage & Historics (VCC) together with Pre-78 Classic Saloons\, Historic & Vintage Racing Association (HVRA)\, South Island 2K Cup\, Small Saloons\, and Large Saloons. \nThe South Canterbury Car Club is handling the day-to-day running of the event and the beautifully presented grounds make Levels a relaxing place to enjoy the meeting. \nThe Southern Classic is weekend two of the three-event series\, following the Skope Classic at Ruapuna\, Christchurch. The third event takes place at the Teretonga circuit in Invercargill. \nThe Southern Festival aims to promote competitive and entertaining racing rather than winning at all costs. SUMMARY:South Canterbury Hydraulics Southern Classic Meeting 2023
DESCRIPTION:This Classic and Historic Motor Race Meeting is an annual invitation event for people who are currently involved in Historic and Classic car racing. The meeting is solely organised by The Classic Motor Racing Club of New Zealand Race Committee and is run on the day by the South Canterbury Car Club team. \nThe South Canterbury Hydraulics Southern Classic is part of the Southern Festival organised by the three major racing clubs in the South Island – The Canterbury Car Club\, The Classic Motor Racing Club of New Zealand and the Southland Sports Car Club. Each Club arranges its own program of events and hospitality for competitors. These events usually attract a significant number of spectators. \nThe aim of the series is for all participants to have entertaining racing where the focus is on competing rather than winning trophies. Because the fields are larger\, recent grid race experience is essential. Because of the number of events in the series\, a high level of vehicle preparation is required. \nEntry Fee is to be advised but will be discounted for CMRC members. SUMMARY:Brooklands Meeting- Levels Raceway
DESCRIPTION:It’s coming up time to dust off those overalls\, clean up your racing specs (the ones that make you think you are going faster that you really are)\, finish the maintenance that you have been doing over isolation (yea right)\, and ready yourself for the first club race day of the new season. Prepare for a great day competing at the Brooklands Challenge;  Classic saloons large and small\, the resurgence of the Gp2 Historic saloons\, Sports & Racing\, Single seaters\, VCC and the mighty Cams bikers.\n\nCovid Level 2 Requirements\n\nThere will be changes from the usual documentation procedures to comply with Level 2 requirements.  In particular there will be a self scrutineering form sent to competitors to fill in so that it can be determined pre-meeting whether your car will need scrutineering.  SCCC would also like those competitors who wish to take advantage of the free Friday testing for Brooklands entrants to book in beforehand- but not before the week starting 31 August (Click on the Levels link on the CMRC homepage for details).  At the meeting you can expect to be asked to form part of a group with access to group facilities and no intermingling in order to comply with Level 2 requirements on group size at outdoor venues.\n\nHistoric and Classic Saloons Pre 78\n\nSome of you will have heard that we are trying to resurrect the GP2 Classic Saloons. Wayne Perkins has been instrumental in working furiously to get this class up and running again and the following is a brief indication of what cars will be acceptable.\n\nThe class will be known as the Historic and Classic Saloons Pre 78 and will be for race saloons with an up to date Certificate of Description (COD) and will as a broad generalisation\, be for cars with all steel bodies and exterior trim and with the majority of the interior intact. Running the original type of engine and gearbox on WOF standard tyres and original or + 1 inch diameter wheels.\n\nIf you think that this describes your saloon then write yes in the Schedule T&C box and then write H&C pre 78 in the SCHEDULE T&C GROUP box in section E2 of the entry form. This will gain you tentative entry into the Historic & Classic Saloon pre 78 group which will be confirmed on the day or by prior contact with Wayne Perkins.
