The Classic Motor Racing Club initiative Classes
The Classic Motor Racing Club currently runs 2 groups which cater for Classic Racing Saloons.
We also host the Formula Libre Class of single seaters and the VCC Vintage and Historic Class, and run the CMRC Regularity Trial.
PRE 78
This Group is for vehicles which are built within the spirit of Motorsport NZ Group 2 T&C Saloons up to December 1977, called Historic & Classic Saloons pre 78 (as defined in Pre 78 Classic Saloons Regulations 26-Oct-2023).
ALLCOMER SALOONS
This Group caters for a wide range of original and replica or club style racing saloons. A diverse range of cars can qualify and cars from groups such as OSCA, Sport Saloons, Shellsport, Muscle and Touring Cars, and Classic Saloons race within 2 speed classes.
VCC AND HISTORIC
The Classic Motor Racing Club proudly supports and promotes the VCC and Historic racing group as an integral part of our club.
These are some of New Zealand's oldest racing and sports cars, and are incredible to witness.
FORMULA LIBRE
Formula Libre translates to Formula "Free" and The Classic Motor Racing Club supports and provides grid spaces for Formula Libre at all our racing events.
The group consists of Historic Single Seaters and includes Historic Formula Ford, SCANZ early wings and slicks cars.
REGULARITY TRIAL
The CMRC Regularity Trial is NOT a race but a speed trial. The aim is to drive each lap as consistently as possible to a target lap time over a set number of laps, so consistency, not outright speed, is what counts. Open to homologated racing vehicles and WOF registered road cars at least 30 years old, competing for the historic Sundstrum Trophy provided by the Otago branch of the AA.
